The Plan

On the Road or On the Rail

As a private plan, we provide emergency response to Plan Participants who transport the following products by road or rail, or those who store these products in tanks with capacities of 420 pounds or greater. These products are gases at standard temperatures and pressure, and include:

Propane
Propylene
Isobutane
Butane
Butylene
Isobutylene
Butadiene, inhibited

Becoming a Plan Participant

To enroll, your company must be a member, in good standing, of the Propane Gas Association of Canada, plus:

  1. Sign our Plan Participation Agreements.
  2. Provide evidence that you have at least $5 million of comprehensive general liability insurance covering your liquefied petroleum gas operations.
  3. Supply the names and 24-hour telephone numbers of at least two employees who are knowledgeable about your company's operations. These people will be our Prime Contacts for all Plan communications.

Fees and Costs

Your Plan participation fees are based on your company's volume of liquefied petroleum gas sales and geographic area of business. These fees are prorated to the overall costs of our annual operations.

If the plan is activated, and your company is involved in the incident, you must also pay your share of all LPG Emergency Response Corporation costs upon being invoiced. Typically, these costs include our fees for personnel and equipment as well as their personal expenses.

Activating the Plan

The plan can be activated by or on behalf of a Plan Participant. In the case of a train derailment, for example, the plan could be activated on behalf of your company by a railroad or government official.
